China is crowned the hometown for snuff bottles (The snuff bottle is comparable to the snuff box used by Europeans.). Due to its exceptional manufacture process, it was regarded as one of the most notable representations of the artistic skill in ancient China.

Snuff bottles were introduced from the West in the early 17th century. The use of these bottles firstly spread through the upper class and then spread into the rest of the country and into every social class. Yet the art for the bottles was born and developed.

Snuff bottles are made of a wide variety of materials, including gold, silver, coral, ivory, jade, etc.
