Chinese Lantern

Chinese Lantern, also called Deng Long or Deng Cai in Chinese, is a traditional folk craftwork in China. Its history dates back to the East Han Dynasty (25-220 A.D.). Originally, it was used to celebrate the flourish of the country and the peaceful life of people. Till now, Lantern Festival, the displaying for lanterns on the 15th day of the first lunar month, is still a big event for Chinese people.

Ancient Chinese not only used lanterns to illuminate but also hung them to drive away evil spirits. Gradually, it became the symbol of happiness.

There are three styles of lanterns, palace lantern, gauze lantern and roof lantern. They have various appearances, including flower, bird, fish, tower, human figures, etc.
